Media Encoding
With the help of media transcoding, most types of video content can be recoded into WebTV-formats. This is usually achieved by an automatic transcoding service. However, we also offer cluster-solutions for greater quantities of video in which the encoding is done by the customer through a browser-plug-in. In limited cases, we can execute the transcoding manually.
The determing factors for planning and pricing are the number of videos transcoded each month, data size and format of the source video, as well as the number of intended formats and your specifications (format, breadth, height, bitrate etc.).
How does media transcoding work?
The customer feeds the videos to Interlake's system through different channels (FTP-access) and adds meta-information by JPG or XML. Every channel regognizes different size relations so that the source data of any relation can be stored in one account. For each channel, a profile is defined as well as profile size and bitrates for videos to be uploaded, guaranteeing the highest quality.
The original material will be replicated to several encoding servers and recoded to the intended format. In the event of an issue, system administration will be informed immediately. The transcoded videos will either be provided in a FTP-account for download or replicated directly to the streaming delivery network (SDN). In this case, the customer will be informed automatically by email or XML about the mapping of the video on the SDN. Video information and meta-data can be taken from the FTP-account. Of course, we can also integrate the transcoded videos into your CMS.
